What is the Right Shade of Green?
There is a lot of information out there today on energy efficient, green and healthy, building practices and products. This can be overwhelming and confusing to consumers. Some of the claims are legitimate, while others are frivolous claims seeking to capitalize on consumer’s fears and concerns, while not truly providing the promised result. We have spent many years studying the various products and practices, and feel that we have filtered out the legitimate advantages from the non-legitimate products.
We take a common sense approach to energy efficient, healthy and green building, focusing on the following:
- Return on Investment – We will recommend paying more for a product or method if we can substantiate it with a logical return on investment. Does it provide a return on investment of seven years or less? Does it reduce maintenance costs and time now and in the future?
- Impact on the Environment – How are we impacting the environment in the short-term and in the long-term?
- Health & Safety – Health and safety of our customers is a top priority. Does a product or method enhance the health and safety of our customer and their family?
Our homes have been testing out to be 20% to 30% more energy efficient than homes built to standard building code. Today’s building technologies offer significant savings. Regency homes built five years ago have a typical energy bill of $550/month, while homes built today average $210/month. To save you money, green practices and products can be seen throughout the entire Regency Design Process.
